Kuttanad Integrated Rural Development Project(KIRDEP)[1987-1996] |

| Kuttanad Integrated Rural Development Project(KIRDEP) was one of the major project executed by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society in Kuttanad, Alleppey Dt. with the financial assistance of CEC and Karl Kuebel Stiftung, Germany. The important programmes are the following. a) Mobile Dispensary:-
It was started in 1987 under the auspicious of Samagra Vikas Social Service Society as a part of its Health Development Programme under the Integrated Rural Development Project (KIRDEP) in Kuttanad. Mobile Clinic was arranged in a boat with all modern facilities. 2,15,000 patients were treated in this Boat Clinic within a period of 10 years.
b) Construction of Hygienic Latrine:-
Kuttanad is a water logged region in Alleppey District, Kerala. During the period from 1987 to 1996 we could construct 2800 hygienic latrines in the premises of the poor people living in different villages of Kuttanad.
c) Child Welfare Programme:-
As a part of our major project KIRDEP in Kuttanad, a Child Welfare Programme has been introduced. Under this project we could establish and run two creches at Kainakary and Muttar villages for the children of poor agricultural farmers. 30 children were accommodated in each of these creches.
d) Leadership Training Programme:-
Development of leadership among the villagers was one of the important programme undertaken by Samagra Vikas Social Society. In twelve villages of Kuttanad we could organize the people, impart training and promoted leadership among them. Project planning, execution and evaluation of each programme of the project had been done by the village Executive Committee.

Formation of Self-Help Groups [1990 contd…]

|
Formation and strengthening of Self Help Groups (SHGS) was another important programme undertaken by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society. A total number of 2500 Self Help Groups have already been formed and all of them are engaged in implementing self-employment and income-generating programme and also assisting in the overall development of their respective village parts.

| Kuttanad Rehabilitation Project (KRP) (1997) |
|
|
| Another major project executed by Samagra Vikas in Kuttanad, Alleppey Dist.,
was Kuttanad Rehabilitation Project (KRP). The project started functioning in 1997.
The main programmes implemented through this project were construction of new houses
(250 Nos.) and repairing and renovation of damaged houses (350 Nos.), construction of
hygienic latrines (600 Nos.), supply of milch-cows, organization of home units of cottage
industries for income generation etc. This project was sponsored and financed by CEC and Karl Kuebel Stiftung, Germany.

| Rural Sanitation Nalukody (1992-1994) |
|
|
| With the financial assistance of CAPART, Govt. of India, we could construct 400 hygienic latrines for the poor people of Nalukody, Changanacherry. It was a package of health programmes sponsored by Govt. of India and implemented by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society.

Azhakiyamandapam Housing Project (1996-1998)
|
|
90 new houses were constructed at Azhakiyamandapam, Kanyakumari Dist., Tamil Nadu. It was a project for the construction of new houses for the poor people living in Azhakiyamandapam village. A total cost of Rs. 85,000/- had been spent for each house. This project was sponsored by Karl Kuebel Stiftung,Germany and CEC and implemented by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society. All these houses were constructed with attached toilet facilities.

Public Co-operation Project (2001-2003)
|
|
Public co-operation project was a major project sponsored by CAPART, New Delhi, and executed by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society at Pulincunnoo, Alleppey District. Important programmes implemented under this project were hygienic sanitation, construction of new houses, supply of drinking water, filling of pits etc., 500 families had been benefited out of this project.

Housing Project in Alleppey and Kottayam Districts (1998-2002)
|
|
A project for the construction of new houses for the poor people of Kuttanad had been undertaken by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society. In this project we could construct 2300 new houses in different villages of Alleppey and Kottayam Districts. It was financed by the Government of Kerala through its Department of Housing. A total cost of Rs. 1,00,000/- had been spent for each house. Two bed rooms, hall, kitchen, toilet etc., were the facilities provided in each house.

Awareness Generation Programmes (1998 contd…)

Awareness Generation and Leadership Training Programme for the villagers of Alleppey and Kottayam Districts of Kerala was one of the important rural development programme implemented by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society. It was a project to develop leadership skills among the village community. It was a project financed by the Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) New Delhi and implemented by Samagra Vikas Social Service Society.

| Dalit Development Project-Mannanam (2004 Contd.) |
|
Dalit Development Project is a new and major Project launched by Samagra
Vikas Social Service Society in connection with the celebrations of its
Silver Jubilee and the 200th Birth Anniversary of Blessed Kuriakose Elias
Chavara. This Project sponsored and implemented by Samagra Vikas Social
Service Society is co-financed by the C.E.C through Karl Kuebel Stiftung
of Germany. The main objective of the Project is the all-round progress
and integrated development of the Dalit Communities and other weaker
sections living at Mannanam and adjoining villages. The activities of the
Project are centred at Mannanam.

Samagra Vikas Social Service Society is adopting 500 Dalit families spread
over at Mannanam and neighbouring villages and proposes to extend financial
and organizational assistances to them through this Project.

Rehabilitation Project for the Victims of Tsunami Waves at Arattupuzha,Alleppey Dt. |
|
Rehabilitation of the victims of Tsunami waves at Arattupuzha,Alleppey Dt. was started in 2005. There are a number of poor families in the coastal
regions of our state who are really in distress as a result of the furious
onslaught of the violent ‘Tsunami’ tide waves of the recent days. Several
of these families, mainly of poor fisher folks have lost their dear and near
ones, dwelling houses, fishing boats and nets and everything they possessed. |

We came forward to undertake the humanitarian task of
rehabilitation of these poor families by launching a comprehensive Project
under the auspices of Samagra Vikas Social Service Society. Construction of new houses, repairing of
houses, purchase and supply of fishing boats and nets, education of children,
income-generating programmes for women, formation and strengthening of Self Help
Groups (SHGs), conducting counseling etc. are the important programmes executed in Arattupuzha Panchayat, Alleppy Dist.
This project was sponsored and financed by BMZ and Karl Kuebel Stiftung,Germany.

Carmel Technocraft
Training-cum-Production Centre ,Chethipuzha (Established:1985)

Carmel Technocraft Training-cum-Production Centre, Chethipuzha
started it's functioning in 1985. This Technical training institute is
imparting training trades like frabrication,fitting,welding etc.which
have high potential in these days for generation of employement. The
training period is two years,during which the trainees are given stipend
and all facilities in the centre. |

Every year 25 youths from and
around Changanacherry are admitted for training here. This institute
also undertakes structural works. Recently this institute has introduced
training courses in lathe works,surface grinding,shaping and allied
mechanical works. The youths who had undergone training in this
centre,have secured suitable jobs. |

Stabilizer and UPS Assembling Units (1992-Contd.) |

| In collaboration with M/s. V-Guard Industries, Kochi, we run four Electronic Stabilizer and UPS Assembling Units
at Nalukody, Champakulam, Pilankalai and Mannanam. These units are functioning
successfully and also providing employment and regular income to a total
of 125 educated and trained girls.

Day-Care Centre for the Slow-Learners-Adoor
|

This is really a noble venture, highly needed for the proper
upbringing and welfare of the disabled and unfortunate children who lead
miserable lives. At present 20 children are being given training in this
institution.
